Slick Laptop choice,
I am a independent repair tech and was looking for a replacement for my Dell 3 year old xps1530.
Was looking for something with all the new tech and power I could get for about $1k. The i7 powered n53sv-A2 fits the bill. Silver Aluminum looks great and the unit worked perfectly out of the box. Had to do usual removal of software that was not useful but not a big problem. Put it through 3 solid days of software loading and testing and the unit did very well. No problems noted. Everything just worked.. Unit runs very very cool. The A2 model has Blue ray,a top notch screen,usb3 and great speaker system that are all pluses. The face recognition logon software is also nice not to mention the I7 cpu gives it speed when there is a need.
Warranty info
You get 2 years warranty included in the purchase price( most are 1 year) also 1 year of no fault damage ( normally something you pay extra for). I do suggest the purchase of an additional “ASUS Offered” 1 year warranty extension($90.00) just round out the protection to a 3 year package. Lojack theft software and Norton 360 would also be nice additions .
I would have no trouble suggesting this to a student, office or a home business user.

|Asus NS53V A2,
I just got this laptop for a week and so far I’m pretty happy with it. I’m a web designer and I have been running multiple softwares including almost all the adobe suite together and it has been great so far. The speed is amazing and the screen resolution and quality is great. I’m very happy with the purchase and the price. So I’m going to skip to the cons that were mentioned about this laptop in review around the web.
- The keyboard is not the most comfortable but you will get used to it. My previous 17” dell laptop keyboard was a lot easier to use but it’s definitely not a deal-breaker.
- I don’t have a problem with the screen as it’s mentioned in other reviews and I quite like it. Maybe because this is the full HD 1920×1080 display which is not the typical ns53 screen.
- The sound is not as amazing as advertised. I don’t get why Asus makes this the selling point of this series. It can bust out a pretty loud sound comparing to my previous laptop but the audio quality is just what you expect from a laptop speaker and nothing more.

|Great laptop; not perfect but most users wouldn’t really notice.,
Great laptop! Seems pretty solid and well built. I don’t run any games, but software dev tools and i’ve never seen the processor get above 65C so it runs pretty cool overall. The screen is indeed glossy, but with resolution is great and is not aggressive on the eyesight (perfect for someone who needs to stare at the screen for 8 hrs everyday). Blueray is awesome and speakers are good enough for a laptop.
My only complaints are the bloatware it comes bundled with (which you can remove in like 15 mins), the keyboard (took a while to get used to it) and the HDMI port. Apparently the HDMI port is built in too deep so a few cables with short connectors won’t actually reach in good enough. In this case you can either buy a new cable or just take one and peel it off a little bit so the connector will stand out more. Either way it’s not a big deal.
What I really care about a laptop is its reliability and specs. I’ve only had this one for a few months, but it seems to be a perfect match for my requirements. This machine is definitely for gamers and people that have big processing requirements. Asus has been very well rated in several studies and I can see why.
