More than I had hoped for – Mac users will love this laptop.,
Keyboard: Extremely well laid out. Spacing between the keys is right, and feels very comfortable to type. Quite like my MacBook Pro keyboard, from which I had to switch to Windows for some research work which could only be done on Windows.
Battery: I am still trying it out but from the looks of it, battery is decent. I think with normal settings for battery and brightness, and with wifi on, browser etc., it lasted for about 5 hours!
Design: I like the no nonsense design of this laptop. The aluminium around the keyboard looks, and more importantly, feels great. As ASUS advertised rightly, it doesn’t heat up during normal usage due to heat from the exhaust. ASUS really seems to have some genuine work on this laptop’s design unlike every other vendor copying MacBook Pro’s design with the recessed keyboard large touchpad and everything.
TRACKPAD: If I have seen anything come close to MacBook Pro’s trackpad (not touchpad!) then this is it. With some tweaks in multi finger settings (inside control panel) I am enjoying this trackpad so very much! It does 1, 2 and 3 finger gestures such as : Back, forward, scroll, zoom in, zoom out, rotate (pictures etc.) and a lot of others. Like swiping three fingers up brings up My Computer window, which is a pretty neat feature.
Screen: Like every windows laptop, you will have to do some screen calibration yourself, if you really care for, and more importantly, if you understand this stuff. Google it up and you will understand what it is, and why it’s important. NOTE: I am not at all saying that the screen looks bad right out of the box, It was GREAT right out of the box, but being a videophile I always calibrate displays to make them look the way I want.
Bundled softwares: Like most of the windows laptops, this laptop came with ASUS’s non-useful suite of softwares. Fortunately, they can be uninstalled and thrown right away. ASUS offers 2GB webstorage in the cloud if you really care to use it, I like dropbox so I didn’t set it up.
Graphics performance is AWESOME! It played many many 1080p videos without a glitch.
Other things to keep in mind: The laptop is quite beautiful. I say that keeping my mac along with me. This laptop is highly useable and ASUS’s attention to input devices, such as keyboard and trackpad shows in the way these things perform, they’re awesome.
This laptop doesn’t come with any CD or DVD and you will have to have blank DVDs ready to create recovery disks as soon as you start using this laptop, you can then use it whenever you need to re-install the US.
Conclusion: I have previously used a thinkpad and loved it for the rugged performance. Thus, I was concerned about sturdiness of this laptop. In the limited use that I have done, the construction looks sturdy. The hinges perform well. Heat vents are placed thoughtfully. Overall, this laptop performs in the every area that concerned me.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Go for it. I am sure gamers to business users, or grad students to home users, everyone will LOVE this laptop.

|Great Laptop! ASUS A53SV-EH71 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop (Black),
I bought this during black friday week. I opened it up and have loved it from the get go. Everything has worked without any problems. I’m not a programmer but I’m also not computer iliterate. I expect things to work out of the box and this has done so very well.
Multi tasking has been seemless, running Netflix while I back up the system while surfing the internet a little.
The battery has performed as expected. Windows and ASUS have preset performance levels that let you consume the battery in two hours or extend it out to five or six. I used the computer on a higher performance level for about 3 hours and it did great.
I love the touch pad that works great with a myriad of options when it comes to scrolling, zooming in and out, switching between screens and opening my computer.
I will soon be installing games that will require a higher graphics output and I’ll have to update this when I see how it performs. This is my first experiance with ASUS and I’ve been pleased with the experiance so far.
Starcraft 2 Runs great as well as others in High settings. Still an awsome laptop.

|Powerful & Quiet Laptop,
This is a GREAT laptop if you don’t mind its thickness, although it is considered slim comparing to other 15.6 laptops.
I had it for 10 days now. It is super fast & super quiet and the keyboard is super comfortable. The external finish is also stylish with high quality.
Its i7-2670QM processor is among the most powerful CPUs in the market now.
With an empty RAM slot, we can upgrade the total memory to 8G, which I did and boost the RAM index score to 7.9;
The dual Graphic card design is smart, practical but a bit tricky. I found that you can set up the default graphic card for each program in the system. So dual Graphic card means better balance between standby time and performance.
There are some pre-loaded softwares. You can remove some of it. But comparing to other computer companies, I’d say ASUS didn’t put too much softtrash in its product.
The only disadvantage of this product is the relatively low screen resolution. The 15.6 screen can’t really display too much stuff… But as my plan is connect it to a external monitor and a TV, it is really a minor thing for me.
Compare to my old thinkpad T series, I’d say both laptops are with comparable build quality and the ASUS is much quieter. Plus, ASUS is priced at an affordable point ($400-700 cheaper than a similarly equipped thankpad T).
All in all, I highly recommend it to all!
